Lucrative air travel isn’t an oxymoron when it comes to China
The October issue of Guanxi will be out in a couple of days. Our subject this month is tourism, and it was apt to find this article in the Wall Street Journal Briefing this morning about the heated competition underway for new flights to China:
“While the U.S. has open aviation agreements with most major nations, China is a notable exception. Each government doles out a limited number of flights to its carriers. Under a 2004 agreement, the U.S. can award one new daily flight for service beginning March 25 to one of the four airlines that already serve China. They all want it.”
Business travel to China is growing all the time, and more and more people are thinking about visiting it on holiday, too. In fact, it’s now the fourth most popular tourist destination in the world, and you can read about that, domestic tourism, and much more in Guanxi. Bet on Continental. Direct nonstop from EWR (Newark) to HK and Beijing already. Strongest financials of any US flag carrier. Growing, with widest network and aggressive management. Who else? NW? UA?..not going to happen.
