Welcome!

Welcome to the new home of a group of weblogs (blogs) that focus on China, Chinese culture, and Chinese perspectives. The site is in first stage of design. GuanxiBlogs will focus on cross-cultural communications and education, while other blog clusters will look at issues related to the Olympics and at specific business sectors. A few colleagues have done some preliminary testing and now that we have the system working we are ready to provide and promote blogs for the China experts who have contributed to Guanxi: The China Letter, the forthcoming Berkshire Encyclopedia of China, or to Berkshire’s China Gold: China’s Quest for Olympic and Global Glory. We also plan to offer a GuanxiBlog to others who would like to add their voices to this community. To become a Guanxi Blogger, simply fill in this Blogger Questionnaire or contact karen [at] berkshirepublishing [dot] com.

Experts say the key to understanding and working with China is guanxi (pronounced gwan-shee)—which means relationships or networks. Berkshire’s China information center (and monthly print/PDF newsletter) is called Guanxi because it provides essential China intelligence–about Chinese culture and history, economics and commerce, philosophy and perspectives—that will help Western (and Chinese people) to build relationships and joint ventures of all types, from manufacturing to education to environmental sustainability. Guanxi is packed with unique content and provides a chance to interact online with experts—known as “China hands”—inside and outside China.

Leading scholars, experienced business people, and Washington analysts turn to Guanxi for authoritative, unbiased, wide-ranging coverage, special business or cultural focus each month, ongoing analysis of major issues, and extensive background material.
